Attendees at the WEVA 16th Annual Wedding & Event Video Expo, held
this week in Las Vegas, were the first to get their copies of WEVA
International's brand new Wedding & Event Videography Resource Guide, co-produced by WEVA and CMP Entertainment Media (CMPE), publishers of Videography, DV, and Government Video magazines.

Watch the official announcement made to the packed ballroom of videographers
on Opening Night of WEVA EXPO 2006 by WEVA International Chairman Roy
Chapman, and Doug Krainman Group Publisher of CMPE's Video Division -
captured on this WEVA NEWS MINUTE video produced by Bruce Himmelblau and Sue Lawson.

The brand new 48-page Resource Guide contains reports on new
wedding and event video creativity, production techniques, new
technology, and successful marketing strategies for videographers.
Features include "hands-on" reviews of Panasonic's new HVX200 HD
camcorder and Primera's BravoPro DVD Publisher. "How-To" articles
include a Sony Vegas 6 tutorial on creative wedding editing.

In addition to in-depth articles by longtime WEVA International
members Mike Nelson, Gary Kleiner, Mitch Ives, John Zale, Stu Sweetow,
and bridal business expert Tom Quiner of Breakthrough Marketing, the
magazine also features a New Product Guide with snapshot views and
reports on new hardware and software, including JVC's new GY-HD110U and
HD-200U camcorders, NewTek's Tricaster Pro, Edirol's R-4 Field
Recorder, Sony's HVR-A1U camcorder, 16x9's new Grab & Shoot Bags
for DV cameras, and many more.

"CMPE has a stellar reputation of producing high-quality media, and
major industry conferences," Chapman said. "In this new era of portable
video, Ãïïbroadband for everyoneÃïï and HD moving in, we are excited about
our partnership with CMPE. Their authoritative and extensive worldwide
editorial assets will enable the production of powerful new resources
for wedding and event videographers nationally and internationally."

Serving Professional Wedding & Event Videographers

"With the addition of the WEVA publications to our arsenal of video
titles, CMPE covers the broad range of video professionals -- from
event videographers to feature film cinematographers," said Krainman.
"WEVA is a vital industry association, and we are looking forward to
working with them to reach their numerous members with these
publications."

WEVA's new Wedding & Event Videography Resource Guide
co-produced by WEVA and CMPE, "is the first dedicated specifically to
serving the needs and interests of wedding and event videographers,"
said WEVAÃïïs Director of Association Communications Dan Argenas.

"The premiere issue shows that our new association publication will
be much more than a directory of industry vendors and their company
descriptions," Argenas said. ÃïïBoth the online and print versions will
combine the extensive resources of both CMPE and WEVA to offer our
members a wide range of cutting-edge reports on new and emerging
technologies, wedding and event video shooting and editing techniques,
video artistry, new product reviews, system-specific tutorials,
spotlight articles on WEVA members, plus new marketing information, and
more."

Argenas added, "This new and expanded communications vehicle will
offer WEVA International members more than just a print magazine, and
more than a strictly online approach to providing wedding and event
video news and features for our members. It represents an advanced
multi-media integration that combines the best of both print and
web-based delivery formats. In other words, a total solution."

WEVA and CMPE, Argenas noted, have been in strategic media
partnership discussions for over a year. "Our goal has been to develop
new educational resources, technology platforms, and other related
benefits in order to expand the ability of our members to reach into
current and emerging markets and achieve new levels of success in their
business."

About CMP Entertainment Media

At NAB 2006, Sony hailed HDV as âthe fastest-selling format launch in
Sony Professional historyâ and introduced two brand new HDV recording
decks to complement the recently released HVR-A1U compact camcorder,
and its larger HVR-Z1U cousin.

The HDV camcorders were a popular draw at the Sony exhibit area. So
was the projected footage from a recent expedition up Mt. Kilimanjaro
in Africa that had been documented with the A1U. Key features of both
HDV camcorders were highlighted on-site for WEVA NEWS MINUTE producers Sue Lawson and Bruce Himmelblau.

Sony's new HVR-M25U and HVR-M15U decks both offer
HDV 1080i, DVCAM and DV SP recording and playback to ease the migration
to high-definition. Both decks are compatible with MiniDV and
standard-size cassettes that allow over four hours of HDV recording
with compatible tapes. In addition, both decks have a down-conversion
function from HD to SD and are switchable between 60 and 50 Hz
(NTSC/PAL).

Other shared features include the ability to copy external timecode
through the "HDV/DV in TC" feature and a range of connectivity options,
including the i.LINK (IEEE-1394) digital interface, component output,
S-Video I/O, composite I/O, and analog audio I/O.

The HVR-M25U (about $3,300 street price) adds a ClearPhoto LCD plus
2.7-inch 16:9 panel and an HDMI output for connections to consumer TV
sets. The model's Edge Crop adjustment is designed to adjust edge crop
areas manually while down-converting. The HVR-M15U (about $2,200 street
price) is a compact unit that can be positioned either horizontally or
vertically. Both HDV models are scheduled for shipping this month.

Editing can begin immediately eliminating the need for digitizing.

The new Catapult was exhibited at NAB last week and captured for this WEVA NEWS MINUTE video by WNM producers Bruce Himmelblau and Sue Lawson.

Catapult plugs into the FireWire port of any DV/HDV camcorder and adds exciting features to capturing video, including time lapse and trigger-based events, as well as pre and post record functionality.

By offering a standard USB 2.0 connection, Catapult has been designed to take advantage of many popular storage devices. Catapult, for example, has a convenient piggy-back neoprene pouch designed to hold an iPod or even a 2Â" USB drive. For those with greater storage needs, virtually any USB 2.0 drive system can be connected, including multiple terabyte systems.

Utilizing built-in rechargeable batteries, Catapult is capable of continuous recording in excess of three hours. The Catapult can also be powered with the included AC adaptor.

Adding Catapult to your camcorder gives you additional recording features, including time lapse and trigger-based events, as well as pre and post record functionality.

Using the Pre and Post-Record settings, for example, you can set Catapult to begin recording for a preset amount of time prior to actually hitting the record button on the camera especially useful for live action events.

The completely configurable Time Lapse feature allows the recording of frames of video at specific intervals like for the pre-party set-up of a ballroom, for example.
Remote-Controlled Cams at Record-Setter
Innovative camera operations, configurations, and positionings were an integral part of the World Record Wedding Video Event organized by the Sacramento Professional Videographers Association (SPVA) and co-sponsored by the Wedding & Event Videographers Association International (WEVA) in February.

Remote-controlled set-ups for the shoot were supplied and
coordinated by Grizzly Pro Video. The dedicated involvement shows how
industry innovators like Grizzly ProÃïïs CEO Phil Jensen, are working
closely with professional wedding videographers to develop custom
technology that facilitates unobtrusive coverage.

In this WEVA NEWS MINUTE video, produced on-location by
Bruce Himmelblau and Sue Lawson, Jensen shows how the Grizzly Pro
r-THREE system allowed unmanned ceremony cameras to be positioned
discreetly, and operated remotely, during the world record-setting
event.

The remote-control system includes:

2006 WEVA Tour Spawns New WEVA-TV Programs

Sarasota, FL - This year 8th Annual WEVA Town Meeting Tour
is the catalyst for brand new online video programming that the Wedding
& Event Videographers Association International (WEVA) will be
presenting for videographers worldwide on WEVA-TV.

Streaming video now in production for WEVA-TV channels range from new WEVA NEWS MINUTE videos
that spotlight cutting-edge technology and production techniques, to
the new on-location interview program called Nat Chat hosted by
Philadelphia videographer and WEVA Public Relations Committee member
Natalie Neal.

While some of the new programs now in production will be available
for public viewing during a limited time, most will be uploaded
directly to WEVA-TV channels in the members-only section of the association website.

See the first Nat Chat episode recorded at the WEVA Town Meeting in Philadelphia last month at www.weva.com. The first episode in the new
series was shot and edited by veteran videographer Robert Neal. Natalie
chats with videographers who are developing new concepts using portable
bridal video, wedding still prints from HD video, Love Story add-ons,
and implementing new creativity picked-up from attending the WEVA event
in Philadelphia.

Developed by WEVA to start with the 2006 Town Meeting Tour, Nat
Chat will be a light and lively way to talk with WEVA members
on-location across the country to find out what's up and what's new!

Anyone who's seen Natalie speak at Wedding & Event Video Expo
or on the WEVA Town Meeting Tour knows how much fun she injects into
every presentation, said WEVA International Chairman Roy Chapman.

Natalie's new Nat Chat series for WEVA-TV will be putting WEVA
International members in the spotlight in a way we couldn do before
broadband hit market penetration. It's a new twist on industry
networking and idea-sharing. Natalie is hosting it, so right there you
know it's going to be a lot of fun, and very spontaneous. The episodes
will be shot at various locations and feature lots of our members."
